Searching For Entrepreneurship in Japan - Forbes.com
I have discussed this matter with Japanese friends and colleagues who also agree that Japan needs more entrepreneurs. Others I speak to say Japan's strength lies not in creating the new, but in taking what exists and making it better. What do you think? Does Japan need more entrepreneurs?

Absolutely agree, but the Forbes article was (uncharacteristically) lacking in analysis. There are many reasons why VC funds don't thrive in Japan, yet Forbes mentions none of them - taxation, lack of exit strategies, mark-to-market accounting for fund audits, etc. Solve these, make running your own business a profitable exercise for both owner and investor, and you'll see many more entrepreneurs and VCs appear.

Also, starting companies doesn't work the same way here it does elsewhere. A post I made on the subject on my blog.

What on earth does getting a Japanese girl have to do with entrepreneurship in Japan? Sorry fail to see the connection between the link you have provided.

The account appears to belong to Peter Payne, who runs JList. I suspect he just accidently pasted the wrong url in his link with no intentions of spamming, just an honest mistake. Of course, the other possibility is somebody ripped off his account.....

In relation to the article, the libertarian in me thinks the spirit of entrepreneurship is one of the greatest things in the world.

I love seeing people try make a living on their own, and even if if it doesn't work out, entrepreneurs always deserve credit for trying. I'd encourage that anywhere in the world...

Apologies, I must have posted the wrong account. Certainly would not want/need to spam anyone. The correct blog post is here.
